Officer – QHSE

Reporting To: BU Head, HRA, and Group HSE Head
Role Purpose
The Officer – QHSE is a critical role created to strengthen the organization’s commitment to statutory compliance, food safety, and environmental stewardship. You will be responsible for establishing robust safety protocols, reducing workplace incidents, and embedding a "Safety-First" culture across both plant and office operations to support our growing FMCG/Manufacturing footprint.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance & Statutory Management
Ensure 100% compliance with all local labor, factory, food safety, and environmental laws.
Maintain and update all statutory registers, licenses, and QHSE records.
Develop and implement environmental standards in line with Group policies.
Coordinate with government officials and external regulatory bodies as required.
Safety Operations & Risk Mitigation
Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and comprehensive risk assessments.
Identify workplace hazards, investigate near-misses/incidents, and track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to closure.
Monitor PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) usage and enforce safety discipline on-site.
Manage emergency preparedness plans, including mock drills and safety campaigns.
Training & Systems Development
Facilitate Food Safety and HSE training programs, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions for employees and contractors.
Implement and maintain systems under international accreditation and conformity standards.
Establish an internal Safety Committee to reduce reliance on external consultancies.
Prepare and submit periodic QHSE dashboards and performance reports to management.
Candidate Profile
Critical Skills & Expertise
HSE Mastery: Strong knowledge of HSE laws, incident investigation, and risk assessment.
Audit Readiness: Proven experience in managing internal/external audits and documentation.
Technical Proficiency: High level of skill in MS Excel and system-based reporting.
Industry Context: Deep understanding of safety practices within the FMCG or Manufacturing sectors.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or Food Safety Management.
Certification: Diploma in Industrial Safety is highly preferred.
Experience: 6 to 8 years of hands-on experience in a similar-sized organization.
Age: Ideally between 28 and 35 years.
Languages: Full professional proficiency in English is mandatory (Local languages like Bemba are an advantage).

Strong influencing skills to drive culture change across cross-functional teams.
