Position Overview

Seeking a proactive and analytical Manager – Project Finance & Accounts to oversee financial operations for our expanding solar EPC and B2G (Business-to-Government) portfolio in the Central Africa. This role is critical for ensuring the financial health of multi-site renewable energy projects, managing a project book exceeding US$50M, and driving cost optimization.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Financial Management

• Cash Flow & Disbursements: Track cash flow to prevent delays, oversee daily entries, and manage timely disbursements for salaries and suppliers.
• B2G Portfolio Oversight: Streamline payment entries and client/supplier follow-ups specifically for ongoing B2G projects.
• Budgetary Control: Perform variance analysis of project sites against budgets and monitor site expenses daily to flag discrepancies.
• Material Accounting: Manage landed costs for materials, monitor consumption, and oversee Goods Received Notes (GRN) against budget.

2. Reporting & Compliance

• Project MIS: Prepare comprehensive Management Information Systems (MIS) reports for various projects and verticals.
• Book Closure: Lead smooth book-closing activities and ensure data integrity within the ERP (Odoo).
• Statutory Compliance: Ensure timely payment of duties, TVA (VAT), and coordinate the clearance of goods at various project sites.

3. Strategy & Optimization

• Cost Optimization: Identify and implement at least 2-3 cost-saving initiatives in collaboration with Operations and Site teams.
• Contract Monitoring: Monitor contract covenants, track insurance renewals, and manage Advance/Performance Guarantees.
• Invoicing Milestones: Track invoicing milestones to ensure payments are received within 60–90 days.

Candidate Requirements

Education & Experience

• Educational Background: B.Com, Cost Accountant, or CA preferred.
• Experience: 5+ years in EPC project finance, specifically managing large-scale projects (>US$50M).
• Geographical Exposure: Strong preference for candidates with experience working in Africa and within a family business environment.

Technical Skills

• Expertise in Cash Management and Project Bookkeeping across multiple sites.
• Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (Odoo experience is a significant advantage).
• Experience in Renewable Energy or solar-based projects is highly desired.

Soft Skills

• Ability to perform under high pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong ethics and collaborative mindset to work with multi-cultural, remote, and on-ground teams.
• Proactive communication style.

Role Overview

As the Project Manager for Wind Energy, you will be the technical expert and lead for the Group’s expansion into wind power. You will be responsible for investigating wind energy potential across various geographies, identifying prospective opportunities, and managing the end-to-end lifecycle of new wind sites—from initial survey to commissioning.

Key Objectives & Deliverables

• First Year Success: Survey and identify at least three viable sites, prepare project budgets, win at least two contracts, and initiate engineering.
• Immediate Priorities: Conduct site visits, soil testing, and survey high-potential regions in Africa.
• Ongoing Management: Oversee turbine delivery and installation, manage civil and electrical groundwork, and ensure projects are delivered on-budget and on-schedule.

Responsibilities

• Site Assessment: Conduct regular site visits to assess conditions, track progress, and ensure compliance with technical and safety standards.
• Technical Design: Contribute to basic layouts and designs, including turbine placement, foundation details, and electrical connections.
• Procurement & Vendor Management: Define technical specifications, evaluate supplier bids, and manage material delivery schedules.
• Construction Oversight: Supervise installation and commissioning activities, coordinating with contractors to meet strict timelines.
• Governance: Manage all project documentation, including technical drawings, progress reports, and inspection records.
• Safety & Risk: Support the development of risk assessments, HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) plans, and quality control protocols.

 

Candidate Requirements:

Technical Skills & Experience:

• Experience: 6–8 years of total experience, with 3–5 years specifically in wind project execution or site supervision.
• Technical Knowledge: Wind turbine systems, geotech analysis, foundations, grid systems, and crane operations.
• Tools: Proficiency in CAD, MS Project, or Primavera.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Renewable Energy Engineering. (Master’s or PMP preferred).

Soft Skills:

• Proactive problem-solver with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams (civil, electrical, and mechanical).
• Strong adherence to HSE compliance and detail-oriented reporting.

Preferred Background:

• Experience in renewables or oil & gas construction within Africa (DRC/Zambia) or India.
• Background with major wind companies
• Working knowledge of French or Swahili is beneficial but not compulsory.
