JOB PURPOSE
• Primary
role: Installation: HVAC technicians install various heating, cooling, and
ventilation systems according to building specifications, blueprints, and
manufacturer instructions. This includes furnaces, air conditioning units, heat
pumps, ductwork, thermostats, and ventilation systems.
• Maintenance:
Regular maintenance is crucial to ensure the efficient operation of HVAC
systems. Technicians perform routine inspections, cleaning, and tune-ups to
prevent breakdowns, optimize performance, and extend the lifespan of equipment.
• Maintenance
tasks may include replacing air filters, checking refrigerant levels,
lubricating moving parts, and testing system controls.
• Repair:
When HVAC systems malfunction or fail, technicians diagnose the problem and
perform necessary repairs to restore functionality. This may involve
troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, or refrigeration issues, repairing or
replacing faulty components, and ensuring proper system operation.
• Testing
and Calibration: HVAC technicians conduct various tests and measurements to
assess system performance and efficiency. They may use specialized tools and
equipment to test airflow, temperature, pressure, and humidity levels, and make
adjustments as needed to optimize system performance.
• Customer
Service: HVAC technicians often interact directly with customers, providing
explanations of services performed, offering recommendations for system
upgrades or improvements, and addressing any concerns or questions. Effective
communication and interpersonal skills are important in building trust and
maintaining positive customer relationships.
• Compliance
and Safety: HVAC technicians must adhere to relevant safety regulations and
industry standards when installing, maintaining, or repairing HVAC systems.
This includes proper handling of refrigerants, electrical safety protocols, and
compliance with building codes and environmental regulations.
• Documentation:
Technicians are responsible for maintaining accurate records of services
performed, including equipment inspections, maintenance tasks, repairs, and
parts replaced. Detailed documentation helps track system history, identify
recurring issues, and ensure compliance with warranty requirements
