Project Manager – Wind Energy
Location: Central Africa
Role Overview
As the Project Manager for Wind Energy, you will be the
technical expert and lead for the Group’s expansion into wind power. You will
be responsible for investigating wind energy potential across various
geographies, identifying prospective opportunities, and managing the end-to-end
lifecycle of new wind sites—from initial survey to commissioning.
Key Objectives & Deliverables
- First
Year Success: Survey and identify at least three viable sites, prepare
project budgets, win at least two contracts, and initiate engineering.
- Immediate
Priorities: Conduct site visits, soil testing, and survey
high-potential regions in Africa.
- Ongoing
Management: Oversee turbine delivery and installation, manage civil
and electrical groundwork, and ensure projects are delivered on-budget and
on-schedule.
Responsibilities
- Site
Assessment: Conduct regular site visits to assess conditions, track
progress, and ensure compliance with technical and safety standards.
- Technical
Design: Contribute to basic layouts and designs, including turbine
placement, foundation details, and electrical connections.
- Procurement
& Vendor Management: Define technical specifications, evaluate
supplier bids, and manage material delivery schedules.
- Construction
Oversight: Supervise installation and commissioning activities,
coordinating with contractors to meet strict timelines.
- Governance:
Manage all project documentation, including technical drawings, progress
reports, and inspection records.
- Safety
& Risk: Support the development of risk assessments, HSE (Health,
Safety, and Environment) plans, and quality control protocols.
Candidate Requirements:
Technical Skills & Experience:
- Experience:
6–8 years of total experience, with 3–5 years specifically in wind project
execution or site supervision.
- Technical
Knowledge: Wind turbine systems, geotech analysis, foundations, grid
systems, and crane operations.
- Tools:
Proficiency in CAD, MS Project, or Primavera.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Renewable Energy
Engineering. (Master’s or PMP preferred).
Soft Skills:
- Proactive
problem-solver with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability
to lead multi-disciplinary teams (civil, electrical, and mechanical).
- Strong
adherence to HSE compliance and detail-oriented reporting.
Preferred Background:
- Experience
in renewables or oil & gas construction within Africa (DRC/Zambia) or
India.
- Background
with major wind companies
- Working
knowledge of French or Swahili is beneficial but not compulsory.
