Role Summary

We are seeking a highly seasoned General Manager – Projects to lead large-scale industrial projects in Central Africa. This role is responsible for the entire project lifecycle, from initial greenfield planning and government liaison to successful plant commissioning. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing large chemical facilities and a proven track record of bringing complex engineering projects to life.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Planning & Strategy: Lead the initiation and planning of greenfield projects, ensuring all timelines, budgets, and technical requirements are met from inception to completion.

• Operations Management: Oversee the operation of medium-to-large scale chemical facilities, ensuring high standards of safety, efficiency, and productivity.

• Government Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for government bodies, navigating regulatory requirements and securing necessary approvals for project implementation.

• Cross-Functional Coordination: Liaise closely with project engineering and construction teams to provide technical guidance and support throughout the implementation phase.

• Commissioning & Testing: Direct all pre-commissioning and testing activities, ensuring that plant facilities are fully operational and meet all design specifications upon handover.

• Greenfield Implementation: Manage site development, infrastructure setup, and the installation of complex machinery within a greenfield environment.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from a premier institute in India.

• Experience: A minimum of 25 years of professional experience in the chemical or heavy manufacturing industry.

• Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of greenfield project initiation, project follow-up, and successful plant commissioning.

• Leadership: Proven ability to manage large-scale teams and interface with high-level stakeholders, including government officials and OEM vendors.

• Regional Flexibility: Willingness to work in Central Africa and adapt to local operational challenges.
