LMV/HMV Mechanic

 

Job Summary:

The LMV/HMV Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and overhauling light and heavy motor vehicles to ensure optimal performance, safety, and efficiency.

 

Key Responsibilities:

·        Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and tire rotations.

·        Repairs: Diagnose and repair mechanical issues, including engine, transmission, brake, and

·        suspension problems.

·        Overhauls: Overhaul engines, transmissions, and other major components as needed.

·        Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.

·        Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of vehicles to identify potential issues.

·        Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.

·        Safety: Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations, maintaining a safe working

·        environment.

·        Spare planning for preventive maintenance and critical items keep on site.

·        Take care of high value items & tools and send old parts to HO.

·        Share daily reports, parts request, consumption with HOD /manager & consul person.

 

Requirements:

·        Education: Post-secondary education in automotive repair or a related field.

·        Experience: 4+ years of experience as an LMV/HMV mechanic.

·        Certifications: Valid certifications, such as ASE or IMI, may be required.

·        Technical Skills: Proficiency in mechanical systems, including engine, transmission, brake, and suspension systems.

·        Soft Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.

 

Working Conditions:

·        Work Environment: Automotive repair shops, garages & site.

·        Physical Demands: Frequent exposure to noise, dust, and hazardous materials.

·        Shift Work: Rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Job description:

To assemble and maintain heavy mining equipment and machinery at a manufacturing facility and working closely with a team of assembly technicians to ensure that all equipment is assembled efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities.

The Machine Build Mechanic will be required to perform the following tasks:

• Ensure Health and Safety standards, Regulations and Procedures are adhered to at all times.

• Participate in safety meetings.

• Analyze all components to be worked on, and ensure task requirements are clearly understood and all risks identified before commencing the job.

• Assembly of heavy mining equipment and machinery at the customers site of operations.

• Ensure that all equipment is assembled efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.

• Ensure that all necessary parts and materials are available when needed.

• Ensure tools are available for the team and kept in good condition.

• Ensure quality of work is inspected before dispatching.

• Ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and quality standards throughout the assembly process.

• Report all incidents immediately to the Supervisor.

• Comply with all incident reporting and hazard identification policies.

• To promote the culture of safety, quality & efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum of an Advanced Certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair

• Diploma in Heavy Equipment Repair/Mechanical engineering from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.

• Minimum experience of 3 years on heavy equipment machinery in a mining environment.

• Must have experience in heavy equipment assembly.

• Knowledge of heavy machinery and equipment maintenance is mandatory.

·         Performing scheduled routine maintenance such as observing refuelling of generators as well as changing oil and filters

·         Responsible for providing lists of alternators, spare parts for diesel engines, control panels and required tools and equipment

·         Handle responsibilities of monitoring tools, equipment and spare parts inventory

·         Responsible for ensuring use of spare parts in most effective and productive manner

·         Inspect vehicle engine

·         Inspect mechanical and electrical components

·         Diagnose issues timely and accurately

·         Conduct regular maintenance work such as replacing fluids, lubricating parts

·         Schedule future maintenance sessions

Reporting to: Sr. Manager Vehicle Maintenance

Language Known: English, Hindi, French/Swahili

Age group: 35 to 40 years

Key Responsibilities

·         Should maintain Shop Floor & mechanics team

·         To coordinate with all user departments for necessary support

·         To recommend spares & facilities to render timely services

Deliverables of this Position

·         Must possess experience of Pneumatic SS Tubing

·         Must possess knowledge of Field instruments and experience of installation thereof.

·         Having knowledge on Cable Terminations will be an added advantage

·         Must possess knowledge of Calibration process of instruments and necessary preventive actions thereof.
