Maintenance Supervisor (Heavy Mining Excavators)

Role Overview
A leading international mining and excavation firm is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to oversee heavy equipment operations in Central Africa. This is a critical leadership role responsible for the reliability and availability of a high-value excavator fleet. The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary mechanical team to ensure world-class maintenance standards in a demanding operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of mechanics and technicians, managing daily work allocations and safety briefings.
Technical Oversight: Direct the repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and undercarriage components.
Fleet Reliability: Execute preventive maintenance schedules to OEM standards to minimize downtime and maximize equipment availability.
Field Management: Lead rapid-response breakdown maintenance at active mining sites and remote field locations.
Inventory Coordination: Monitor spare parts consumption and coordinate with procurement to ensure critical component availability.
Technical Requirements & Experience
Experience: 8–15 years in heavy earthmoving equipment maintenance, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory capacity.
Specific Expertise: Hands-on experience with large-scale hydraulic excavators (e.g., Hitachi EX1200, EX870 or equivalent classes from CAT, Komatsu, or Liebherr).
Systems Knowledge: Deep proficiency in hydraulic schematics, diesel engine diagnostics, and transmission systems.
Environment: Prior experience working in African mining operations or similar remote, large-scale excavation projects is highly preferred.
Education: Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering, or a relevant Diesel Mechanic Trade certification.
