Qualification: Tertiary Qualification in Geology
Experience: Minimum 5 - 7 years’ experience in mine geology (preference for experience in JORC system for mineral classifications)
JOB PURPOSE:
Based initially out of Our Client’s Mine, manage and coordinate the Exploration and Mineral Resource Management functions for the Client Company
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND WORK OUTPUTS:
Client Mine
Through the effective management of the Client Mine Exploration and Confirmatory Drilling programmes provide the Our Client Board with the data required for the effective ore body definition that will enable accurate and cost efficient ore extraction over the Our Client LOM
Establish and implement mine sampling and geological grade control policies, procedures and processes at Our Client mine to ensure effective and sustainable operational activities
Through effective interaction with the Our Client Mine Production Geologist, ensures all day to day grade control and sampling activities are conducted in line with prescribed procedures and provides technical assistance to the Mining and Plant production personnel through the production of accurate and timely grade control and sampling results.
Performance manages core and support direct reports/ functions to ensure outputs and personal performance agreements are achieved or exceeded and when required takes corrective action timeously to correct performance levels of direct reports/function.
Adopts and addresses the continuous improvement of all aspects of the Our Client Mine Geology and Mineral Resource Management discipline
Client Mine
Review all of Client’s existing Exploration data and determine the priority in terms of future potential Exploration Programmes
Ensure all of Client’s Exploration and Mineral Resource data is collated and stored in line with internationally acceptable standards, e.g. in line with the requirements as laid out in the JORC system of Mineral Classification
Through the effective management of Client’s Exploration programmes at Client’s various Concession Areas, provide the Client’s Board with the data required for the effective decision making with regards to potential future operational expansions, e.g. Malembe-Nkulu, Kyambi, Ngoya etc.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
All Mineral Resource Management reporting in line with internationally recognised Regulatory and Company requirements and appropriate use of Geomodels to support decisions
Exploration plans established for Our Client’s, which will feed into the Our Client 5 year Strategic Business Plan (SBP), and where required fully costed and detailed Exploration Programmes
At Client, ensure that sufficient ore available to allow mining activities to be progressed in line with the requirements of the Client 5 year SBP, which also includes adequate provision of ROM stockpile material at the required plant feed grade.
Continuous business improvement and team morale
KEY STRENGTHS REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION:
In line with the requirements of the Company’s operating parameters as defined in the MMR SBP and more specifically the Our Client SBP, liaise with the CEO and Advisory Board to ensure that the required Our Client Strategic and Business Planning goals and objectives are executed such that sustainable work outcomes are achieved
Ability to drive decisions and proactively influence Senior Management through good communication and sound technical reasoning
High level of accuracy, attention to detail and ability to deal with complex technical issues
Given situational requirements at Our Client, and in conjunction with the Production Manager and Production Geologist, the ability to make the technical decisions required to ensure smooth and effective operations are maintained in mining as well as in the plant
PERSON SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
Physically mobile, for access to all production environments
Willingness and ability to learn local languages (French and Swahili)
Able to manage diversity effectively
