Head of Department – Garage & Maintenance
Experience: 15-20 Years
Education: B.E/B.tech – Mechanical OR Automobile (Full time only)
Location: Central Africa
The garage head will be responsible for all activities
carried out the in department, viz.;
• Implementing
of the systemised methodology of all work carried out in the garage.
• Creating
of datas and history records of work done.
• Controlling
of cost at each level
• Utilisation
of manpower and available resources.
• Control
supervisors’ activities
• Liaising
with managers at sites in order to adapt protocols and procedures, ensuring
timely preventive maintenance and management of rigs to optimize utilization
• Work with
the Business head and HOD’s and respond to user’s requests for updates on the
status of their jobs and keep the communication channels open to ensure
information is accurate.
• Receive
and review feedback from the sites and end users and take action required.
• Discuss
with team to identify appropriate course of action, develop and implement
systems to record, file and store information pertaining to all enquiries or
services
• Planning
of rig utilization, down times, site placements, asset purchasing forecast,
etc. along with Operations’ HoD
• Surprise
visits to sites along with time spent on sites
• Training
programs designed and given to onsite team members and garage & maintenance
department team members to upskill their knowledge and work
• Continuous
skills assessment to ensure correct staff placement + planning for training
where required
• Complete
technical library that is accessible to senior mechanical and HOD staff; for
all Operators Manuals, Spare parts lists, technical specifications for the
complete fleet (including major components such as Rotary heads, different
engine derivatives, mud-pumps etc.)
• Reduction
of repeat repairs
Hydraulic mechanism knowledge is required.
French and Swahili would be an added advantage. If the
candidate does not speak Swahili or French, it will be mandatory for him to
learn within 3-6 months.
