Network Engineer

Location: Central Africa

Experience: 8 to 10 years of experience in Networking

Job Expectations:

·         Network engineer will be responsible for building and maintaining the day-to-day operations of computer networks that companies and organizations rely on. These networks typically include an intranet, extranet, local area network (LAN), and wide area network (WAN).

·         Designing Network system configuration;

·         Directing system installation;

·         Maximize network performance by monitoring performance;

·         Troubleshooting network problems and outages

·         Firewall policies & Bandwidth Management

·         VoIP

·         CCTV

He will have responsibility for setting up, developing and maintaining computer networks within an organization or between organizations. Will support to users and troubleshoot any problems that arise. Will be involved in designing new networks.

Network engineer will work internally as part of an organization’s IT support team.

Types of network to maintain:

LANs - local area networks, linking a limited area such as a home, office or a small group of buildings

WANs - wide area networks, which link nationally or internationally

WLAN - wireless local area network

VoIP - voice over internet protocol network.

SAN - storage/system/server/small area network

Responsibilities

·         Undertake data network fault investigations in local and wide area environments using information from multiple sources

·         Secure network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access

·         Support and administer firewall environments in line with IT security policy

·         Report network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information and managing projects

·         Upgrade data network equipment to the latest stable firmware releases

·         Configure routing and switching equipment, hosted IP voice services and firewalls

·         Provide remote support to on-site engineers and end users/customers during installation

·         Network Security

·         LAN & WAN Experience

Qualifications

Need a degree in a subject such as:

Bachelor degree in Information Technology related field of study with a network engineering focus.

Strong understanding of Network infrastructure and network hardware

CCNA & CCNP

MCSE

Network security management
