Head of Tax and Compliance

Position Overview
We are seeking a seasoned, strategic leader to serve as our Head
of Tax and Compliance. Based in our Pune office, you will be the primary
authority on all tax-related matters, ensuring our organization navigates the
complex regulatory landscapes of India (and relevant international
jurisdictions) with precision.
The ideal candidate is a blend of a technical tax expert and
a proactive risk manager—someone who doesn't just "check boxes" but
builds robust systems to safeguard the company’s integrity and financial
health.
Key Responsibilities
1. Tax Strategy & Planning
- Develop
and implement comprehensive tax strategies that align with corporate goals
while optimizing tax liabilities.
- Advise
senior leadership on the tax implications of business expansions, mergers,
acquisitions, and new product launches.
- Manage
Transfer Pricing documentation and ensure compliance with arm’s
length principles for cross-border transactions.
2. Direct & Indirect Tax Management
- Oversee
all aspects of Direct Taxation (Corporate Income Tax, TDS) and Indirect
Taxation (GST, Customs Duty).
- Ensure
timely filing of all returns and accurate payment of tax liabilities.
- Manage
the end-to-end GST process, including reconciliations, input tax credit
(ITC) optimization, and annual audits.
3. Regulatory Compliance & Governance
- Act
as the lead liaison for all statutory authorities and external auditors.
- Ensure
strict adherence to the Companies Act, FEMA regulations, and SEBI
guidelines (if applicable).
- Monitor
changes in tax laws (e.g., Union Budget updates) and proactively assess
their impact on operations.
4. Litigation & Risk Mitigation
- Represent
the company in tax assessments, appeals, and any legal proceedings before
tax tribunals.
- Establish
a "Compliance Calendar" to ensure zero lapses in filing or
reporting.
- Identify
potential financial and operational risks, implementing internal controls
to mitigate them.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education:
Chartered Accountant (CA) is mandatory. An additional degree in Law (LLB)
or an MBA in Finance is a significant plus.
- Experience:
12–15+ years of post-qualification experience, with at least 5 years in a
leadership role within a large corporate or a "Big 4" consulting
firm.
- Technical
Mastery: Deep knowledge of Indian Income Tax Act, GST laws, and
International Tax treaties.
- Software:
Proficiency in SAP/Oracle and advanced tax reporting tools.
