As the Manager - India Operations, you
will be instrumental in setting up and leading NGO initiatives in India. This
is a growth-based hire, and you will be responsible for ensuring full legal and
financial compliance, establishing impactful social projects, and fostering
strong relationships with stakeholders. You will co-own budget responsibilities
and play a key role in achieving our long-term vision for sustainable impact in
India.

scheduled virtual/physical reviews.

Responsibilities:
Essential
Expertise, Skills, and Competencies:
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in managing and
executing social development projects, with a strong focus on either
education (scholarship programs, training initiatives) or environment
(recycling, reforestation, green initiatives).
- Comprehensive understanding of Indian laws and regulations
governing non-profit organizations, including Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR), Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA), and
Income Tax exemptions (80G/12A).
- Proven ability to develop, manage, and oversee project
budgets effectively, ensuring financial accountability and transparency.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (both written and
verbal), and presentation skills, with the ability to build rapport with
diverse stakeholders and prepare clear, concise reports.
- Comfort and willingness to undertake both office-based
administrative tasks and frequent field visits to project locations across
India.
- Strong ability to work independently, take initiative, and
manage responsibilities with minimal supervision, as well as collaborate
effectively within a small team.
- Hands-on experience in directly executing projects on the
ground, demonstrating a practical understanding of implementation
challenges and solutions (experience beyond solely subcontracting or
office-based oversight is crucial).
- Demonstrated experience working in diverse field locations
across India, understanding the nuances of different regional contexts.
- Prior experience in the start-up phase of an organization is
highly desirable.
- Fluency in English and Hindi is essential; proficiency in
additional local Indian languages is a significant advantage.
- Polished and professional communication style suitable for
engaging with high-level stakeholders.
