Senior Geologist

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
Qualification: Tertiary Qualification in Geology
Experience: Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in geology (preference for mining related geology)
JOB PURPOSE:
To manage and coordinate the mining, geological, exploration and production activities for the Mining Project.
Key accountabilities and work outputs:
· Preparation of short as well as term exploration programme as well as its execution to establish the resources under JORC category.
· Establish and implement mine sampling and geological grade control policies, procedures and processes to ensure effective and sustainable operational activities.
· Ensures all day to day grade control and sampling activities are conducted in line with prescribed procedures and where necessary provides guidance and / or instructions to the Mine Sampling and Geological Technicians.
· Provides technical assistance to the Mining and Plant production personnel through the production of accurate and timely grade control and sampling results, advice on day to day mine planning activities and stockpile management.
· Working in conjunction with the Exploration Geologists, provides the Companies senior mine management (General Manager) with the data required for the effective ore body definition that will enable accurate and cost efficient ore extraction.
· Performance manages core and support direct reports/ functions to ensure outputs and personal performance agreements are achieved or exceeded and when required takes corrective action timeously to correct performance levels of direct reports/functions.
· Adopts and addresses the continuous improvement of all aspects of the Mine Geology discipline.
· Zero accident free from injury, loss to personnel and/or property whether caused deliberately or by accident.
· Employing skilled people, utilizing, maintaining and developing their resources.

· High level of accuracy, attention to detail and ability to deal with complex technical issues
· In line with the requirements of the mine’s operating parameters as defined in the Mining Plant, liaise with the Production Manager to ensure that the required operational goals and objectives are executed such that work outcomes are achieved
