Job Description
The candidate’s primary objective is to lead technical sales activities in Africa and meet agreed sales objectives
Accountable for the presentation of the area budget towards sales results by client and product (monthly and quarterly)
Prepare and coordinate the sales related activity reports
Responsible for business planning including trial and commercial proposals
Hunt for new opportunities and drive them to commercialization
Drive New Product Introduction commercialization
Support and coordinate technical service activities to existing and new customers
Actively participate in the construction and implementation of the sales account strategy
Develop new accounts and establish a sustainable relationship with the customer by ensuring multi-level contacts
Complete and execute plans for the exploitation of sales opportunities in coordination with the regional and global Mineral Processing sales team
Actively collect market intelligence and support the sales and marketing team in establishing the sales strategy in anticipation of market changes and/or evolutions
Establish and maintain excellent work relationships with the technical services support team
Apply and safeguard the application of Solvay safety regulations in all circumstances
Ensure compliance to internal reporting requirement including but not limited to call report / service report / call out report / monthly highlight/trial proposal/trial report ...
Comply to Solvay policies such as code of conduct, anti-bribery, anti-trust, business travel expense guidelines, …
Assess and develop direct reports when applicable
Education and Experience
A successful candidate will:
Possess a Bachelor degree in a technical discipline (preference chemical engineer).
At least 10 years experience in the Industrial Minerals and/or Mineral Processing industry.
Possess a track record in commercial experience and success.
Have managerial experience, coaching and/or mentoring
Skills
Demonstrate good technical and commercial sense with a high focus on value selling
Desire to build excellent customer relationships while promoting Solvay products to the benefit of the client
Demonstrate excellent project planning skills
Expert compentency in MS Excel, Word and Powerpoint and/or google chrome identical programs
Possess excellent writing skills in support of information exchanges with customers and internal Solvay
Problem solver by nature, acting as first point of contact for the customer and collaborators in case of product questions or requests for support
