Position Overview

The General Manager – Ore Dressing will lead the ore beneficiation and upgradation operations, with a focus on copper, zinc, and lead flotation plants. The role requires a deep understanding of mineralogy, process design, and plant operations, ensuring optimal recovery and efficiency in line with the region’s high-grade ore deposits. The GM will report directly to the Sr. Director – Projects & Technology.

Key Responsibilities

Mineralogy & Process Interpretation:

• Analyze and interpret mineralogical studies to guide beneficiation strategies and process flowsheets.
• Apply mineralogical insights to optimize ore upgradation and flotation plant performance.

Test Work Design & Execution:

• Design and develop procedures for bench-scale and pilot-scale test work5.
• Supervise and interpret test work findings, translating them into actionable process improvements.

Commercial Plant Conceptualization:

• Use bench and pilot-scale results to conceptualize and design commercial ore beneficiation plants.
• Oversee the transition from pilot to commercial scale, ensuring process scalability and robustness.

Plant Stabilization & Troubleshooting:

• Lead stabilization efforts and troubleshoot operational challenges in commercial plants.
• Implement corrective actions to resolve metallurgical and operational bottlenecks.

Team Leadership:

• Supervise technical teams, fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Mentor junior engineers and ensure knowledge transfer across the department.

Reporting & Compliance:

• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and process documentation5.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards and regulatory requirements.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

• Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering with specialization in Ore Beneficiation or Mineral Processing.
• 20–25 years’ experience in ore upgradation and flotation plants, with a strong track record in copper, zinc, and lead beneficiation.
• Proven expertise in mineralogical analysis, process design, and plant operations.
• Experience in scaling up processes from laboratory to commercial scale.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

 

Desirable Skills:

• In-depth knowledge of mineral processing equipment and process control systems.
• Familiarity with the geology and ore characteristics of the Central African Copperbelt is an advantage.
• Experience working in multicultural and challenging environments.

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our Angola operations. This senior leadership position holds complete ownership of the branch’s performance, overseeing all functions including Sales, After-Sales, Finance, Administration, HR, Legal, Importation, Procurement, OEM Relations, and Customer Engagement.

The General Manager will be responsible for developing and executing a sustainable growth strategy, managing and mentoring the team, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and maintaining operational excellence. The GM will also represent the company with government agencies, banks, institutional clients, and OEMs as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Branch Leadership & P&L Ownership:
  Full responsibility for the Angola branch’s Profit & Loss, controlling operational costs, improving efficiency, and ensuring financial health.
• Sales & Marketing Strategy:
  Drive both retail and institutional sales, implement ATL/BTL activities, establish new client pipelines, and launch new products in the market.
• After-Sales & Customer Satisfaction:
  Ensure high-quality after-sales service, parts availability, and service workshop performance to support customer retention and satisfaction.
• Team Building & HR Oversight:
  Recruit, mentor, and manage cross-functional teams (including expats and local staff), define KPIs, lead performance reviews, and oversee training and development.
• OEM and Vendor Management:
  Liaise with OEMs for product planning, reporting, and audits. Manage local vendors, body builders, and technical partners for vehicle delivery.
• Legal, Compliance & Administration:
  Ensure legal compliance, handle government registrations, manage contracts, tax matters, and all administrative functions.
• Importation & Supply Chain:
  Oversee importation processes, customs clearance, and ensure inventory flow aligns with sales projections.
• Stakeholder Management:
  Represent the company in Angola, engaging with government stakeholders, large clients, and banking institutions.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum 10–15 years of experience in the automobile industry, especially at dealership or distributor level
• Proven track record in leading multi-functional teams
• Deep understanding of sales cycles, marketing, P&L, and operational controls
• Strong communication and reporting skills; ability to present data to OEMs and internal leadership
• Experience working in African markets is a plus
• Fluency in English is mandatory; Portuguese is a strong advantage

Education & Experience:

Crane operating license with elementary education preferably 12^th & ITI or diploma with 08-10 Years of experience in working at mine sites. Good knowledge of standard crane operation techniques and hand signals. Exposure of Africa or DRC shall be an additive advantage.

Candidate have Operating experience in 100ton capacity.

Duties & Responsibilities:

·         Weigh materials to determine load weight and ensure compliance with lifting specifications, Move levers, depress buttons and foot pedals to operate and control the speed or direction of crane movement. Conduct inspection of crane mechanism and lifting components to ensure parts are in working order. Liaise with helpers and ground workers who provide direction assistance through radio communication or hand signals.
·         Inspect cables and grappling assembly to identify wear and facilitate replacement, clean, lubricate, and maintain the moving parts of a crane such as the cables, pulley or grappling mechanism, Load or unload shipment of heavy duty machinery or material from trucks. Review work orders and schedules to determine sequence of operations.
·         Inspect bundles or shipment to ensure conformance to company regulations or customer requirements, signal and direct truck drivers to properly back vehicles into loading or unloading bay. Move, lift, and position equipment, machinery or heavy materials with the aid of hook, bucket or electromagnet, Provide report of work operations by completing relevant paperwork,
·         Direct helpers to place blocks and outriggers to prevent capsizing when lifting heavy materials. Move levers and pedals to rotate crane on chassis or raise or lower crane boom or load line. Work within set standards of accuracy and precision.

Skills Required:

Job Description:

a) Monitor and update relevant departments regarding price fluctuations of goods and vendor pricing

b) Manage an efficient flow of goods to ensure optimum production

c) Process purchase orders to acquire goods

d) Work closely with the legal department to ensure contract terms are favorable to the company

e) Attend meetings with the legal team, engineering team, vendors, and suppliers

f) Establish procurement strategies for acquisition, receiving and tracking of project materials that optimize quality, cost, and timely delivery criteria.

g) Work collaboratively with management and the Design team to coordinate supplier selection, credit and terms, track supplier performance standards, and conduct ongoing evaluation.

h) Prepare, maintain and review purchasing records, produce management reports, track the status of requisitions, contracts and orders, approve bills for payment,

i) Conduct research via the Internet, catalogues, trade publications, and trade shows to identify potential suppliers.

j) Create spreadsheets with vendor & product or service comparisons of prospective suppliers to support management decisions

k) Optimize the material and supplier portfolio – that is what materials should be bought in bulk and consumed as needed from inventory by projects, and which materials are best to acquire as needed for specific projects.

l) Prepare and review all of comparison for purchasing orders.

m) Coordinate with the warehouse minimum stock and maximum stock

n) Negotiation with the suppliers to reach for the best prices

o) Prepare the vendor list and update and approved it with execution section heads.

 

Education and experience

• A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Engineering, MBA or Construction, financial Management preferred with minimum 9 years of experience related to procurement of construction Material.
