Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Central Africa

Executive Summary
We are seeking a high-caliber, strategic, and hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our financial operations in Central Africa. This role is pivotal in driving financial excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions, and providing the strategic oversight necessary for large-scale infrastructure and EPC projects.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in the OHADA accounting framework and a proven track record of managing complex financial landscapes in emerging markets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Financial Leadership
Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, advising on financial strategy, capital allocation, and long-term business planning.
Oversee multi-project finance, ensuring accurate cost control, revenue recognition, and profitability analysis for large-scale infrastructure/EPC works.
Manage and optimize the company's capital structure and funding strategies.
2. Compliance & Governance
Ensure absolute compliance with OHADA accounting standards, local taxation laws, and regional regulatory requirements in the DRC and Central Africa.
Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, ensuring timely and "clean" audit completions.
3. Treasury & Risk Management
Oversee treasury functions, including cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, and foreign exchange (FX) risk mitigation.
Develop and implement robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate operational risks.
Manage relationships with banking partners and financial institutions.
4. Operational Excellence
Direct the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing deep-dive variance analysis to project managers and stakeholders.
Optimize taxation strategies to ensure efficiency while maintaining full legal compliance.
Supervise and mentor the local finance team, fostering a culture of professional growth and high performance.
Candidate Profile
Experience & Education
15–20 years of progressive experience in Finance and Accounting.
Minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role (CFO, VP Finance, or Finance Director).
Mandatory: Experience in DRC or wider Africa operations.
Industry Background: Preference for Infrastructure, Construction, Mining, or EPC projects; however, exceptional candidates from other industries will be considered.
Education: CA, CPA, ACCA, or MBA in Finance is highly preferred.
Technical Skills
Expert-level knowledge of OHADA standards and African tax regimes.
Strong experience in Multi-Project Finance and Treasury management.
Proficiency in advanced ERP systems and financial modeling.
Soft Skills
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills (ability to engage with government bodies and international partners).
