Qualification: Tertiary Qualification in Mining
Experience: Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in Mining
industries, 3 of which must have been at a supervisory / a managerial level
JOB PURPOSE: To manage and coordinate safely and
cost-effectively all production related activities pertaining to mining
operation at Malemba mine
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND WORK OUTPUTS:
·
In line with the Authority Matrix,
establishes and reviews operational policies, processes and procedures to
ensure safe, effective and sustainable mine production activities
·
Ensures all operational resources are in
place to meet the Mine’s production objectives and targets (including key human
resource levels with appropriate competencies and skills) as per the short and
long term mine planning
·
Leads and directs the activities of direct
reports/ functions via planning and report-back forums and meetings and
maintains and encourages cohesiveness, teamwork and morale in the Departments
(Mining)
·
Ensures adherence to EHS policies,
procedures, programmes, practices and actively supports EHS campaigns across
the Mine
·
Ensures risk assessments are conducted on
critical equipment, systems, procedures and tasks (drilling & blasting)
within the production departments of the Mine and uses the results to advise on
policy and procedure updates
·
Establishes communication channels to
promote effective information-sharing and decision-making to support the
achievement of the Mine’s production objectives and targets
·
Approves and controls the budgets required
for the achievement of the planned production activities and objectives
·
Performance manages core and support direct
reports/ functions to ensure outputs and personal performance agreements are
achieved or exceeded and when required takes corrective action timeously to
correct performance levels of direct reports/functions
·
Approves high-level operational training and
development plans/initiatives to meet the Mine’s production objectives and
targets
·
Adopts and addresses the continuous business
improvement of all aspects of the production related processes
·
Provides high-level coaching and mentoring
to sub-ordinates as required
